Card Identifier — by NK Tech Solutions

Your card photos are analyzed instantly and never stored.

Here's exactly what we collect, why, and how you can control it.

Last updated: July 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Card Identifier ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. We're a small team, and we've tried to write this in plain language rather than dense legal text.

1. Information We Collect

Card photos: When you photograph or upload a card, the image is sent to our backend server for AI analysis and identification.

✓ Never permanently stored — processed in real time, then discarded

Scan history: Your past results (card name, set, valuation, condition, and timestamp) are stored locally on your device only. This never reaches our servers unless you explicitly share a result yourself.

App usage and interaction data: We collect information about how you use the app — which screens you view, when you start or complete a scan, when you view or dismiss the subscription screen, and general engagement — through Google Firebase Analytics. This is collected regardless of whether you subscribe.

Log data: If something goes wrong, we may collect your device IP address, device model, OS version, and timestamps, used solely to diagnose and fix bugs.

Purchase information: If you subscribe to Premium (weekly or annual), your purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We receive your subscription status and transaction value through RevenueCat, also recorded via Firebase Analytics for our own reporting. We never see your card number, billing address, or other payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To identify the card in your photo and generate valuation, grading, and authenticity information
  • To display your scan history within the app
  • To verify your subscription status and unlock Premium features
  • To let free-tier users optionally watch a rewarded video ad in exchange for an extra scan
  • To understand how the app is used, measure engagement, and improve it over time
  • To diagnose and fix technical issues

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following services, each of which may process some of your data on our behalf:

  • OpenAI — analyzes card images for identification. Images are sent securely and are not retained after processing. Privacy Policy →
  • RevenueCat — manages subscription status and purchase verification. Privacy Policy →
  • Google Firebase (Analytics) — collects app usage data to help us understand and improve the app. Privacy Policy →
  • Google AdMob — serves the rewarded video ads free-tier users can choose to watch. May use device identifiers for ad personalization. Privacy Policy →
  • Google Play Services — handles app distribution and in-app purchases. Privacy Policy →
  • Vercel — hosts our backend API. Card images pass through Vercel's servers for processing only, never stored. Privacy Policy →

4. Camera and Photo Library Access

The app requests camera and photo library access solely so you can scan a card. We never access either without your explicit action — tapping the Camera or Gallery button.

Images are used only for card identification and are never shared, sold, or repurposed for anything else.

5. Advertising

Card Identifier does not show display or banner ads. Free-tier users may choose to watch a short rewarded video ad, served by Google AdMob, in exchange for an additional scan. This is always optional — nothing is shown without you tapping to request it.

These ads may be personalized based on your device's advertising identifier. You can opt out at any time:

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation

Premium subscribers never see ads of any kind.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The app itself does not use cookies. Third-party services we rely on — Firebase Analytics and AdMob — may use cookies, advertising identifiers, or similar technologies as part of their own services.

7. Data Storage and Security

Your scan history lives locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers. All data sent between the app and our backend uses standard HTTPS encryption.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to anyone.

8. Age Requirements

Card Identifier is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and the app is not directed at or marketed to them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us right away using the form below.

9. Your Rights

  • Delete your local scan history any time from the app's Profile screen
  • Opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings
  • Request a copy of what information we hold about you
  • Request deletion of any data associated with your use of the app

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
